The Scouts Australia NSW Air Activity Centre, flew for the first time in 1972 with only a two seater Aircraft operating from a tent. Based at Camden Airport, the Centre now has a modern fleet of 4 Cessna 172 Aircraft with ‘State of the Art’ facilities.

It is the only centre of its kind in the country and since inception has introduced over 60,000 members to aviation. The Volunteer staff at the Air Activity Centre run courses tailored to each age group that allow all members to experience aviation in a fun, interactive and safe environment.

In partnership with Altocap Flight School, Scout aircraft are available for flying training to help Venturers, Rovers, Guides, Leaders and Parents achieve their dream and learn to fly.

The Scouts fleet of aircraft consists of 4 modern Cessna 172 aircraft:

These aircraft are kept clean and hangared and are maintained to the highest standard. They all are fitted with GPS navigation, conventional radio navigation systems, autopilot and emergency locator beacons.

The newest addition is the AT-21 Approved Synthetic Trainer (Simulator) that is used for advanced instrument flying training and keeping instrument pilot’s skills and knowledge up to the required standard.
