Five future aviators had the time of their lives getting behind the controls of a plane during a recent four-day AirVenture Camp.
From pre-flight checks to breathtaking views, AirVenture gives Venturer Scouts the opportunity to pilot a plane, get to know the Scouts’ aircraft and learn more about the world of aviation.
Whether Venturer Scouts want to launch an aviation career or just want to fly for fun, the AirVenture program is a perfect starting point. The program delivers the first four hours of practical flying training, plus all the necessary ground school to complete that training.
The small class size resulted in a journey of learning, friendship and unforgettable memories.
“It was a really good experience and the flying was super fun,” one participant said. “The briefings coupled with the flying was a very effective learning cycle as I was able to put into practice what I learnt on the ground while in the air.
“I would recommend this activity to anyone interested in STEM or flying, as you not only learn how to fly, but also the mechanics and forces involved in helping the plane fly. It’s also a great opportunity if you’re considering a flying career and want to try it out first. You get lots of advice from industry experts and also make friends along the way.”
As well as AirVenture, the Scouts NSW Air Activity Centre also offers introductory flight training programs for adults – Rover Scouts, adult Leaders and helpers. Find out more
